6th Contraception & Abortion in BC meeting

Experience guiding Research guiding Care

WHY: Unequal access to contraception and abortion is a problem in BC, particularly for rural and disadvantaged populations. Excellent new opportunities will better meet the needs of British Columbians. A new contraception option will be coming this year- come learn about subdermal implants! BC Women’s now offers Complex Contraception Clinic service, and Options for Sexual Health has plans for new services. Come learn about these programs! 2020 is the International Year of the Nurse and Midwife! Nurses, NPs and midwives are expanding family planning service options throughout the province- share your ideas on what could be next. At this exciting juncture BC Women’s, in partnership with UBC’s CART and Options for Sexual Health invite you to join health professionals, administrators and system leaders to prepare for key opportunities and identify challenges in family planning services.

This meeting is the sixth in the series of successful BCW-CART-OPTIONS meetings over the past decade. We aim to expand provision of abortion & contraception and improve equitable access to high quality family planning health throughout BC.

WHAT: A one-day meeting held at BC Women’s Hospital and Health Centre. Top speakers will convey the latest evidence, as well as BC-specific health system and health service advances in contraception and abortion. Sessions will emphasize BC-specific opportunities and invite you to share your perspective and the challenges you face in your role.

WHO: This meeting will be valuable for urban and rural health professionals (physicians, NPs, nurses, midwives) working with those seeking abortion, Perinatal Service leads from all Health Authorities, hospital and clinic women’s health service administrators, Public health and community services related to family planning, and government leaders in Population and Public Health and Women’s Health.
