Care Options & Reproductive Access for Newcomer Youth in BC

In 2021, we organized two workshops, engaging 12 settlement service provider organizations, through our CUES Explore project. In these workshops, we identified the gaps and opportunities in the current model of SRH care for newcomer youth (see Infographic). We plan to conduct interviews with newcomer youth in BC & health care providers (funded by Mitacs) as well as user-centered workshops, the outcome of which will be a digital tool for SRH care. This tool will address the identified barriers and make SRH care more accessible. Accessible SRH care is associated with reducing STDs and unplanned pregnancies in immigrant populations and benefiting community-level well-being. The participants of our previous workshops expressed an interested in continued collaboration.
